Designed to handle the demands of extreme-lift camshafts operating at prolonged, high-rpm use at championship-level racing, Skunk2's Pro Series Valve Springs for Honda's K-series VTEC engines are simply the best. Pro Series Valve Springs have been tested at speeds as high as 11,000 rpm on both the engine dyno and the street and our superior, Japanese-milled, super-clean chrome silicone wire is 100-percent eddy-current inspected prior to coiling and then heat-treated, shot-peened, and chemically polished for strength and durability. A special nitriding process concludes Skunk2's rigorous manufacturing process. The end result is a lightweight valve spring that safely accommodates high-lift camshafts and features superior resistance to load loss, even under extreme operating conditions.
Skunk2 Pro Series Titanium Retainers are manufactured using the latest 3D CAD (Computer Aided Design) and FEA (Finite Element Analysis) to ensure that each is optimized for strength as well as for reduced weight. Skunk2 engineers then test and prove their designs on the engine dyno as well as the race track. Once approved for manufacturing, only medical-grade titanium that’s been ultrasonically inspected and certified is used. Following CNC machining, each retainer is then individually inspected to ensure proper hole diameter, taper, and that each are free from machining defects to ensure proper installed valve spring heights and pressures. Finally, each Titanium Retainer is serialized for your protection, including valuable information, like material batch specifics as well as production and inspection dates. Pro Series retainers are 42 percent lighter than OEM steel retainers.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Engines originally equipped with single valve springs must use the K-Series Spring Base Kit 312-05-0010, available separately.
