Some background first. 2003 WRX with 238,000 miles... and a lot of those miles are very hard driving in all sorts of conditions. She gets raced constantly, with to the limit cornering, off roaded weekly, which includes deep mud, large gravel and rock, jumping a foot or so out of creek crossings... and just flat out enjoyed to it's fullest rally heritage
potential! I went though several sets of stock struts. I then went to a set of AGX 2 Adjustable Struts with 1" lower King Springs. Very good buy. Improved handling incredibly. Lasted me 58,000 miles, so about 2 years. When I finally blew a left rear strut jumping my favourite creek crossing I almost bought those again. I decided after hours and days of research to try a set of Fortune Auto 500 Series Gen 7 Coilovers. I'm a professional technician by trade and reading how they're made and tested from their website sold me on getting a set. First 12,000 miles I set the car at 1.25" lower in the front and 1" lower in the rear (that's lower than stock height). Initially like any new suspension they are extra stiff. I feel I broke them in, in about 1,000 miles. First 600 miles or so I took it fairly easy, easy for me, feeling them out and making sure I can trust them in a variety of conditions. From then on flat out. These things are AMAZING!!! For on road driving I tend to run 10 clicks hard front and 20-24 rear. You adjust these as with others from full soft, lefty loosey, then harden them up righty tighty, to be precise.…
