This is a Genuine OEM Subaru Oil Control Valve, or Engine Variable Valve Timing (VVT) Control Solenoid.
A faulty variable valve timing control solenoid, or spool valve, can result in a check engine light accompanied by engine hesitation and pinging under acceleration.
